Stand up for State Employees

Their Negotiated Pay Has Come Under Attack

Cynthia Ann Paul

State Representative Agema has introduced a nonbinding resolution (HR 45) that takes away 5% of state employees’ negotiated pay and benefits. Both the state employees and the Civil Service Commission approved of this most recent contract in December 2007.  The current contact contains several concessions and other cost savings measures, including nearly doubling of the state employee healthcare costs and restraints on overtime pay and use. This is in addition to the $500 –million that state employees have saved the state before December 2007.

The following State Representatives have signed onto HCR 7 as co-sponsors: Chuck Moss, John Walsh, Eileen Kowall, Kenneth Kurtz, Tom McMillin, Pete Lund, Kevin Elsenheimer, Larry DeShazor, Justin Amash, Bob Genetski, Gail Haines, Arlan Meekhoff, Bill Rogers, Kevin Green, Harold Haugh, Matt Lori.
