Detroit Living Wage

seiu logos

When it comes to Detroit's Living Wage Ordinance, the 2008 elections may prove to be the tipping point.

SEIU History

In 1921, members of seven small janitor unions dared to dream they could build their strength by forming a single organization, the Building Service Employees International Union. The BSEIU, a union of mostly immigrant workers chartered by the then-AFL, changed its name to Service Employees International Union (SEIU) in 1968.

Support the Employee Free Choice Act

Lobby Day 3

Some 57 million U.S. workers say they would join a union if they could. But when workers try to gain a union voice on the job, employers respond with intimidation, harassment and retaliation. And our labor laws have become too weak to stop them.

The Employee Free Choice Act would ensure that when a majority of employees in a workplace decide to form a union, they can do so without the obstacles employers use to block their right to have a voice at work.

Please send a message to Congress and the Senate urging them to support the Employee Free Choice Act.

Ergonomics

Weingarten Rights

If you are ever called into an interview meeting with your supervisor or manager so they can investigate a situation which might result in discipline, you have specific representational rights.

What is COPE?

COPE is our union's voluntary bi-partisan Political Action Committee used for political and legislative activities. We hold politicians accountable at every level of government.
